The city of Seal Beach sits just south of the Los Angeles / Orange County border. Long Beach, home to many high profile attractions, is to the immediate northwest of Seal Beach. Seal Beach begins the string of coastal Orange County beach cities often referred to as South Orange County, South Coast County or just South County. These beach cities include Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano (not exactly 'on the beach'), Dana Point and finally, San Clemente - just before you pass into San Diego County.
The immediate Seal Beach area has a wealth of public facilities, entertainment, major shopping areas, schools and medical facilities all within 30 minutes driving time from down town Seal Beach.
If you need to get somewhere quickly, you can connect with 4 primary Freeway arteries within 10 minutes. These include the 405 running from the San Fernando Valley down the coast past Seal Beach to where it terminates into the 5 in south county. The 605 runs more directly north and then east into the San Gabriel Valley are if you are heading inland. The 22, also known as the Garden Grove Freeway, heads east and takes you through the interior of Orange County to a more northeasterly heading 55 Freeway. Although you live right at the western edge of the Unites States, you can reach the mountains and snow, in the winter, within 2 hours of leaving your home in Seal Beach.
Many landmark events dot the Orange County calendar throughout the year - insuring that everyone living in the beach area is exposed to a diverse menu of entertainment and personal enrichment. Activities ranging from picnics and strolls in well maintained park areas to open ocean yacht racing just off shore provide a mix of excitement and relaxation that's hard to find so close together in other parts of the country.
